Social media in small firms: use but (mostly) without knowing why

Carry an interesting article by John Ruskin, in line with the my previous post.

"What comes from Techaisle , a company specialized research in technologies for the SMB sector, it is interesting primarily because it makes present the phenomenon in the next 12 months. Of the sample of 406 companies (with a workforce of between 1 and 99 employees) surveyed showed in fact that 70% had plans to use by 2011 and for promotional purposes, the main social networking tools. Another curious fact, often poorly stated, brings to light as against about half of the organizations, 45% to be precise, to acknowledge that they do not know how these technologies can be helpful to their business.
least in appearance, so there is a clear discrepancy between the levels of adoption (high) and anticipated returns on investments (very fuzzy). In other words, like social media, will be used in two thirds of small and medium-sized American companies but a contractor on two does not know what to expect in terms of return on investment "
